Markus has a simple dream, he just wants to ski. Like so many children from even the smallest of mountain villages in Sud-Tirol/Alto Adige, Markus had scarcely taken his first steps before he also experienced his first moments on skis. From that moment skiing became an all‑consuming passion. Racing with his peers during the early years, Markus had many promising successes. But this wasn’t enough for Markus, he wanted to have fun. Finally trying his first pair of freestyle skis he found his way.
Markus started to win all the competitions in Italy, and also pushed hard at the European level. But in a 'fairy tale' story he 'exploded' onto the international stage at the Nine Knights in 2010. Markus won the only wild card to compete in this freestyle contest and video competition against the world's best freestyle skiers. Entering as the last rookie and winning this prestigous contest was incredible. Something similar happened at the Red Bull Linecatcher in 2011. He entered into this freeride comp as complete Parkrider and surprised everyone with the second place.
International recognition as one of the next big stars of freestyle skiing has led to invitations to all the best freeride events. Markus is heading for a bright future. He is focused on filming with JOB and competing in the best freeride contest throughout Europe to push himself hard.
Loving slopestyle contests with tricks on jumps and rails to show himself as a complete performer, Markus is a focused competitor who pushes himself to do his best to achieve the best possible results. Beyond competition Markus also loves to film for ski movies and photo-shootings giving expression to his creativity. His dream is to work hard to achieve his goals in a professional freeride ski career, but without ever forgetting "the joy of skiing".
That young kid that just wanted to ski, all day and every day, is still there. Markus still just wants to ski - and as he pushes to his limits he has the biggest smile on his face. When he is skiing he is happy, because this is what he wants to do.
